Ronnie’s Racial Slur

If you follow Ronnie on Twitter (@MTVRonnie) like we do you may have noticed a strange and out of place tweet come through your home page yesterday.

The tweet said:

I apologize … don’t get offended … was talking to my boy Vinny … settle down … I love you all

We here at Hairpoof found that a little strange and as we weren’t completely paying attention to our twitter feed while we actively watched radar to figure out just how badly we would be snowed in this weekend we had no idea what it was about.

But, we’ve done a little research and we came to find out that Ronnie included a racial slur when he tweeted our dear Mama’s Boy, Vinny. Specifically he said that LA wasn’t the same without Vinny and he missed him “my n—–.”

As we reported earlier this week, Vinny didn’t travel with the cast to LA to tape Ellen (airing 2/8) and Leno  (airing 3/3)  as he was feeling ill.

But Ronnie is catching some flack from his tweet. He needs to realize that he’s a public figure and can be held accountable for situations such as this. It may be the way he “talks to his boy” but it’s also a derogatory term. And unlike the controversy surrounding the cast’s use of the words guido and guidette, Ronnie can’t claim he’s not being disrespectful because he self-identifies with the word.

We applaud Ronnie for apologizing publicly, but we’re hoping it doesn’t happen again as we don’t need the tide of public opinion turning against our favorite guidos before the second season even begins!

Sammi Starts Tweeting

We’ve also uncovered a Twitter for Ronnie. It seems like @SammiRonnie wasn’t the real Ronnie Magro or Sammi Sweetheart. So far we haven’t uncovered Sammi’s but when we do, we’ll let you know.

Pauly D Changes Twitter Handle, Updates Web site

If you’re looking to follow, tweet or retweet Pauly D on Twitter these days make sure you leave off three little letters. When we first posted that our Jersey Shore friends had jumped on the Twitter bandwagon his handle was @MTVDJPaulyD. Now, you can find him at @DJPaulyD. We’ve updated our first post to reflect that change, but we wanted to make you all aware as well.

Secondly, Pauly D’s Web site www.mtvdjpaulyd.com is slowly but surely taking shape. We got our first glimpse of it when he started tweeting that you can buy autographed photos of him on the site (here) and since then he’s added his twitter, news, blog and a chat function. There are also quite a few new photos of him posted, which is good because there are only so  many times I can post the same stock promo photos MTV took last year.

Take a look at his site. We hope to do an in-depth review of all their (and by all we mean Pauly D and JWoww as we have yet to find official sites for the others…but we will!) Web sites soon.

Our favorite Seaside, NJ vacationers now have Twitter

Looking to keep up with the Jersey Shore cast in real time? Check them out on Twitter.

Snooki – @Sn00ki –  Snooki’s tweets are fun and interesting. She generally lets you know where she’s going to be, who she’s with and what she’s thinking.

JWoww – @JENNIWOWW – JWoww is the second most active tweeter of the bunch. She tweets a lot of pictures from where she is, and has lately been pimping her favorite hair salon in Long Island.

The Situation – @ItsTheSituation – If you’re looking to hit up a club with a JS cast member, check out The Situation’s twitter feed. He lets you know when and where he’s flying to a new city to fist pump.

Pauly D – @DJPaulyD – Pauly D seems to interact with his fans more than the others on twitter. He also keeps fans up to date with when MTV will air more Jersey Shore goodness (Wednesday, Jan. 27 11 p.m. EST – BEFORE THE SHORE on MTV)

Vinny – @vinnygmtv – Vinny also tweets when he’s making appearances at clubs and comments on current events in pop culture – most recently the Vikings loss to the Saints. He also jokes around with JWoww and Snooki. Follow him if you want both sides to their jokes.

Sammi and Ronnie – @SammiRonnie – The last to add twitter (and together no less), Ronnie and Sammi have done absolutely nothing worth following. They have one tweet. Of course, if they really broke up on the reunion show then maybe they’re trying to work out who gets the kids (or twitter account) still.
